About us

PILOT was founded by curator Lýdia Pribišová in 2012 as a civic association whose aim is the reflection and presentation of contemporary visual art with overlaps into other disciplines, humanities and natural sciences. The PILOT civic association is a platform for multi-genre innovative and experimental forms of visual art, providing a base for collaboration between science and art. It presents site-specific projects working with the specificities of a given space and with the historical memory of a given place. PILOT offers a space for communication and discussion about contemporary art with artists and audiences. Another key mission of PILOT is the presentation of contemporary Slovak art abroad, as well as the introduction of progressive young and established artists from abroad to Slovakia, thus facilitating the development of mutual international cooperation in the environment of contemporary art. It initiates the interest of foreign institutions in contemporary arts and their establishment on the international level. Establishes interactive cooperation with foreign galleries and other cultural institutions. In addition to exhibitions, it organises conferences, lectures, workshops and research with international participation. Since 2015, together with the Praguebiennale Foundation, it has been publishing Flash Art Czech and Slovak Edition, http://www.flashart.cz/, the Czechoslovak edition of the prestigious international magazine Flash Art http://www.flashartonline.com/.
